Errant Signals #233 is the latest (and potentially last) issue of a popular tabloid zine revolving around life aboard a starship written moments before things go horribly, horribly wrong.

Members of the ship’s crew enjoy Errant Signals to help shake up the boredom of being stuck on a spaceship for months or years at a time. The zine’s in-universe writer, a smarmy disgruntled crewmate under the pen name “Comm-Bomb”, has become especially popular amongst the lower decks for their irreverent attitude towards the officers of the ship. However, unbeknownst to Comm-Bomb and most of the crew, underneath the zine’s sass lie clues of a tragedy (or tragedies) just around the corner that may spell doom for the ship and its crew.

Stories covered in issue #233 include:
• Curious reports of a mysterious illness sweeping the ship
• A supposed eye-witness account of an alien encounter
• News on a “spiritual movement” among the crew opening its doors to new members
• And more!

This zine was written to serve many purposes. It can be printed out completely or in parts to be used as an in-game prop for the players to pour over. Kick off a one-shot or a campaign with your players all serving as crewmembers of this ship and hand them this zine as a clue to figure out what’s going on. Alternatively, this can be slotted into an ongoing adventure, where the group discovers the zine while exploring a derelict vessel long after whatever catastrophe has occurred.

Filled with adventure hook ideas, this zine can serve as the inspiration for many sessions. Is there any truth hidden amongst these rumors? Perhaps they’re all true, all connected to a great conspiracy? It’s up to you to decide!

Errant Signals #233 was written for the Mothership Lo-Fi Zine Jam, but it is completely system neutral and can be used in any spacefaring setting of your liking.
